Computer Science and
Information Technology

The CSIT major is a degree program with a unique blend of theories of computer science and practice of information technology. Students in this degree program will begin their education by taking a set of common core courses to establish a sound foundation on computer science and information technology. The students will then build upon this foundation by selecting software engineering or networking and security as their concentration. Throughout the program students will learn fundamental computing and information technology concepts while applying their knowledge to solve real-world problems.

Minimum number of units required for the major:

  • 120-124 semester units either at CSUMB or an accredited college or university and transferred into CSUMB.
    • 64 units of GE/ULR/GLO
    • 68-72 units within the major, including elective
    • 52-56 units of upper division courses

Communication Design
 

A BS CD degree provides a broad-based understanding of current technologies and the application of media arts, web design, animation design and game design. CD students combine technological knowledge with design, communication and management skills in order to develop a customized university experience pertinent to their career interests and ambitions and to the needs of a global, multicultural society. The BS CD program produces graduates that cross boundaries as individual contributors and are uniquely qualified for collaborative projects in design and high-tech industries.
